  • Why a Gyroscope and Accelerometer?
  • How It Works

Modern graphics cards are becoming increasingly complex, and the ASUS ROG Astral is a perfect example. In addition to powerful cooling and enhanced performance, the card also includes unique features. For instance, Power Detector+ monitors proper power delivery, while Thermal Map helps detect local overheating issues. A specially designed PCB made it possible to implement these technologies.

Why a Gyroscope and Accelerometer?

Recently, users discovered another feature — Equipment Installation Check. Thanks to the built-in gyroscope and accelerometer, the graphics card can monitor its position inside the case. If the card tilts or sags due to its weight (which can reach up to 3 kg), the system will alert the user. This feature helps protect the hardware from potential damage.

How It Works

The graphics card is equipped with a BOSCH SENSORTEC BMI323 IMU, a sensor that combines acceleration and angular velocity measurements. This technology is new for the ROG Astral series and was not used in previous ASUS graphics cards. Additionally, a small support stand is now included with the card to help maintain proper installation. Using such supports is becoming essential due to the growing weight of modern GPUs.a
