Western Digital Sued for SanDisk SSDs Losing Data
08:17, 22.08.2023
A few months ago complaints about SanDisk SSDs occasionally deleting data started to appear. Although Western Digital introduced certain firmware updates, the issues continued to arise. This resulted in a series of judicial calls.
On August 16, user Nathan Crum filed a lawsuit against Western Digital in a San Jose federal court. He seeks class action certification for purchasers of specific SSD models including SanDisk Extreme Pro, SanDisk Extreme, and Western Digital My Passport, sold since January 2023. The complaint alleges Western Digital misled customers about SSD reliability, even after firmware updates. The company faces two more similar lawsuits by Matthew Perrin and Brian Bayerle. They claim data loss from SanDisk Extreme SSDs. Another suit by Saif Jafri highlights data loss in a SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD. The lawsuits revolve around irreplaceable data loss and misleading advertising. Western Digital refrains from commenting on ongoing litigation.
