AMD's Ryzen 8000G APU series was presented at CES 2025. This series is quite productive, and this is achieved by combining RDNA-based graphics and the Zen 4 core. It has become known from insider information that the next product in this series will be Ryzen 9000G. There are no details on the architecture of the cores yet, but it is known that the processors will be presented at the end of this year.

The Ryzen 8000G series of processors had cores based on the Zen 4 architecture and were representatives of Phoenix. The company also equipped these processors with CUs based on RDNA 3, which provided certain conditions to guarantee the level of 1080p gaming.

Mobile APUs on Zen 5

Speaking of mobile APUs on Zen 5, they have 2 series: Krackan Point and Strix Point for the higher-end segment. There are high expectations for the new Ryzen 9000G and the likelihood of using the same silicon, and we can make some assumptions from this. The Strix Point has a Radeon 890M video chip with 16 RDNA 3.5 units and 12 hybrid cores in two CCX modules. Krackan Point belongs to the mid-range class, so it has 8 cores that share 1 L3 cache pool and a Phoenix 2 APU.

Of course, these are just some assumptions, but the potential performance improvement over current Phoenix APUs will have a significant impact. Most likely, Ryzen 9000G will be one of the last series on Zen 5, as the transition to Zen 6 is planned for next year.
