Linux 6.6 is now officially LTS until December 2026

Starting from the middle of November 2023 Linux 6.6 is a long-term support kernel release. This long-term support particularly extends until December 2026. The updated for this kernel branch are promised to be released until December 2026. However, this term may be prolonged up to six years, reaching til December 2029. Ordinary Linux kernel releases are supported only until the next stable branch is released.
Besides that, on October 12th Linux Foundation announced Super Long Term Support for the kernel branch Linux 6.1, which covers 10 years.
