Kioxia Accelerates Servers: PCIe 5.0 SSDs Are Now Available

Kioxia, one of the world's leading flash memory manufacturers, has introduced its new XD8 series server SSDs with PCIe 5.0 interface. The new SSDs are expected to improve the performance of data centers and servers themselves due to their high data transfer speed.
This line will be the third version of the compact SSDs to be released, which differs from the previous ones by being NVMe 2.0 and OCP 2.5 compliant, making them suitable for use in modern cloud environments.
The Kioxia XD8 drives deliver truly exceptional performance, with read speeds of up to 12.5GB/s, write speeds of up to 5.8GB/s, random reads of up to 2.3 million IOPS (almost half the speed of previous generation drives), and a 25% increase in random write speeds compared to the last generation.
Kioxia uses in-house memory in the new SSDs, which come in capacities from 1.92TB to 7.68TB. Since heat dissipation is an important issue for high-speed PCIe 5.0 SSDs, the manufacturer also offers several chassis options with heatsinks of 9.5 mm, 15 mm, and 25 mm.
The new server SSDs from Kioxia support advanced data protection technologies, including encryption and power failure protection, making them an attractive solution for businesses focused on security and stability.
Currently, the company is already supplying customers with trial samples of the new SSDs.
