Intel's laptop processors with a significant advantage in performance and energy efficiency will soon be available to users.

The new Intel product features a significant reduction in power consumption, which is almost 50 percent compared to previous processors. As a result, the laptops' battery life can reach 20 hours, which is much longer than the new AMD Ryzen AI 300 Strix Point chips offer.

Laptops based on Core Ultra 200V are already available for pre-order and will be shipped from the end of September of this year. Information about the Lunar Lake architecture has already been available online, and now specifics about the configuration have been revealed.

As for the main characteristics of the new Core Ultra 200V processors, this series will have 9 chips, 4 with single-threaded Lion Cover performance cores and 4 with energy-efficient Skymont cores. The cache will be 8 or 12MB and the RAM will be 16 or 32GB. In addition, all new chips in this series will be equipped with an 8MB third-party cache.

The new processors have a base TDP of 8 to 17W, and the maximum possible power consumption will not exceed 37W.

The Intel Core Ultra 200Vs support 5 PCIe 4.0 and 4 PCIe 5.0 lines, and they are planned to be used in conjunction with a discrete graphics card. There will also be built-in access to Bluetooth 5.4 LE, Wi-Fi 7, and 3 TB4 ports. In addition, there will be support for 2 USB 3 ports and 6 USB 2 ports.

Intel reports the uniqueness of this series due to the achieved level of energy efficiency. The company guarantees that the new processors will have better energy efficiency compared to previous generations, this figure will be reduced by 50 percent.

The company also announced stunning data on the battery life of the processors in test mode, with a battery life of 20.1 hours in basic use and about 10 hours with a call to Microsoft Teams. This is quite high when compared to AMD's HX 370 and X1E-78-100.

The company has also significantly minimized memory latency by almost 40 percent. The tests show a minimum possible latency of 23 ns and 55 ns depending on the cores. In comparison, Qualcomm chips can have a latency of 150-180 ns. Thanks to significant architectural changes, Intel's processor cores are 20 to 64 percent faster than Qualcomm's.

Moreover, Lunar Lake processors also have a significant advantage in gaming performance, which may be of interest to many gamers. During the test, the processors functioned normally with a workload of 48 games at 1080p. The gaming performance is significantly higher when compared to the HX 370 and Qualcomm.

When launching the new chip series, Intel also focused on AI performance.
