Last year, the frequency of Intel's desktop processor was 6.0 GHz. This year, these figures were significantly increased, and a new record was set. A new Core i9-14900KS processor with a frequency of 6.2 GHz was released, which means that at the moment it is the highest possible frequency for desktop PCs.

Core i9-14900KS is a processor that is part of the Raptor Lake generation. The chip supports 20 PCIe lines and has 36 TB of cache memory. The processor also consists of 24 cores and supports 32 instruction threads. As for the highest frequency, it can reach 6.2 GHz in turbo mode, which became possible by Thermal Velocity Boost. Due to the high frequency, the PBP figures have increased to 150 watts.

The new processor from Intel is compatible with circuit boards based on Z690 and Z790 chipsets. The company recommends updating the BIOS. The manufacturer also announced support for up to 192 GB of DDR4 3200 MT/s or DDR5 5600 MT/s memory.
