  • No Word on GPUs

Intel’s new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, has shared the company’s latest plans in his annual letter to shareholders. While he confirmed Intel’s commitment to upcoming processors, there was no mention of graphics cards or GPU development.

Intel’s Focus on Efficiency and AI PCs

Tan emphasized that Intel must prioritize customer needs and streamline its operations. The company is moving forward with its $10 billion cost-cutting plan, including a 15% workforce reduction. Intel aims to simplify its business model, eliminate unnecessary complexity, and focus on core areas.

One key focus is AI-powered PCs. Intel will expand its client product lineup, reinforcing its position in the evolving CPU market. Tan confirmed that Panther Lake is set to launch in late 2024, followed by Nova Lake in 2026. However, he referred to the official launch rather than full-scale production.

No Word on GPUs

Despite Intel’s efforts in the GPU market with the Battlemage series, Tan did not mention any future plans for graphics cards. Since the initial launch of Intel Arc GPUs, there has been little communication about new developments.

This silence raises questions about Intel’s commitment to competing with NVIDIA and AMD in the graphics space. For now, the company seems fully focused on CPUs and AI-driven computing.

With Panther Lake coming soon, Intel is doubling down on its processor business. But the future of its GPU division remains unclear.
