AMD has officially launched its new gaming graphics cards, the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, built on the RDNA 4 architecture. The Radeon RX 9070 XT features a full Navi 48 GPU with 64 compute units (4096 cores). It includes 128 ROP blocks, 64 ray tracing accelerators, and 128 AI hardware accelerators. The reference model runs at a clock speed of up to 2970 MHz and consumes up to 304W of power.
The Radeon RX 9070 uses a slightly reduced Navi 48 GPU with 56 compute units (3584 cores), 56 ray tracing accelerators, and 112 AI hardware accelerators. Its clock speed reaches up to 2520 MHz.
Both cards come with 16GB of GDDR6 memory running at 20Gbps across a 256-bit bus, providing 640GB/s of total bandwidth. They also feature 64MB of third-generation Infinity Cache, boosting GPU bandwidth. The cards are equipped with PCIe 5.0 x16 connectivity and two 8-pin power connectors.
Performance Gains and Availability
AMD promises significant performance improvements with the RX 9070 XT, offering a 42% boost compared to the Radeon RX 7900 GRE at 4K Ultra settings. The RX 9070 non-XT also provides a 21% performance gain. Compared to NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti, AMD’s cards perform just 2% slower. The RX 9070 series will be available for purchase starting March 6, with prices set at $599 for the RX 9070 XT and $549 for the RX 9070.
