AMD is gradually increasing its share of server CPUs

According to the latest information from Mercury Research, AMD is actively growing in the main segments - mobile, server, and desktop. The company is significantly focused on processors with x86 architecture.
The number of units sold in the global CPU market in Q3 of this year is 24 percent. This figure has significantly increased compared to Q3 of last year when this percentage was 23.1 and Q2 of this year, when the data was at 23.1 percent. In monetary terms, AMD's share is 26.5 percent, which is also higher than in Q3 2023 and Q2 2024.
If we compare data on different AMD segments, it is obvious that the server segment has always been weaker when compared to Intel. At this stage, the situation has changed a bit and the growth is also recorded in this segment (24.2% - in quantitative terms). In financial terms, AMD server segment accounts for 33.9 %, which significantly exceeds the figures for the previous quarter of the current year.
AMD's successes became significant in the server processor market, but still Intel has a significant superiority with a share of 75.8 %. Significant results of AMD were also recorded in the segment of premium chips.
AMD's growth is largely due to progress in the field of AI. Intel clearly feels some difficulties in this area, stopping the production of outdated products, optimizing office areas, and laying off employees. Also, some failed processor series from Intel have affected the company's reputation.
