13:33, 19.11.2024
The AlmaLinux development team has announced the release of version 9.5 of its operating system, which is an open-source alternative to RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
The AlmaLinux distribution is based on CloudLinux as an alternative to CentOS 8, for which Red Hat has discontinued support. AlmaLinux 9.5 itself is synchronized with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.5.
Extended Hardware Support in AlmaLinux 9.5
The new version of AlmaLinux has significantly improved interaction with hardware. Additional devices are now supported, including models from Compaq, LSI SAS, HP NetRAID, QLogic, and others. This makes the distribution more compatible with a wide range of server platforms and workstations, which is especially important for organizations working with specialized hardware.
New Synergy Repository
AlmaLinux 9.5 has also introduced the Synergy repository, which offers additional packages that extend the standard features of the distribution. Among them are the Pantheon interface and the Warpinator tool for secure and encrypted file sharing. These improvements allow users to customize the system for their tasks and increase the efficiency of work processes.
Focus on Security and Productivity
The new version has an increased focus on security, which strengthens AlmaLinux's reputation as a reliable business solution. Performance has also been improved to meet the demands of modern users. These aspects play a key role in choosing a distribution for critical systems.
