A major 3.8 Tbps DDoS attack has been reported, which Coudflare was able to autonomously prevent. This is currently the largest attack that has been publicly announced.
The attack that was recorded, was part of a larger L3/4 company, where the numbers were well above 2 billion packets/s and over 3 Tbps. Cloudflare specializes in cloud cybersecurity and that's why it was able to deal with the problem so effectively.
L4 attacks are used to exhaust resources with large numbers of requests or data packets. L4 attacks mainly target transport layer resources, while L3 attacks target the network infrastructure.
The company's customers were protected from the resulting risks due to the autonomous operation of the system. Cloudflare claimed that repelling such significant attacks was possible due to its global coverage and network capacity.
The hackers most likely used UDP on a fixed port. The attack affected some of the company's major customers in the U.S., Brazil, and Vietnam.
For these types of large attacks, DVRs and MikroTik devices are used. These attacks come from a large number of home routers. To ensure top-notch protection of your site from such risks, the best option will be HostZealot. We guarantee DDoS protection of more than 400 TB capacity.
